What We Create
Bridal, couture, ready-to-wear
House of Hooyo dresses a woman across the occasions of her life: the vows, the celebrations, and the ordinary days between. Every collection begins in Somali heritage, drawn for the woman of now.
What We Create

The Founder
Khadija Omar is the founder and creative director of House of Hooyo. A lifelong creative and visual storyteller, she founded the house to honour Somali heritage through thoughtful design while proving that fashion can preserve culture, celebrate identity, and create lasting impact.
Her journey led her to become the first ever Miss World Somalia, the first ever Miss Universe Somalia, and now the first ever Miss Cosmo Somalia. Through every stage, she has used her platform to share a vision of Somalia defined by beauty, craftsmanship, resilience, and possibility, believing that representation is most meaningful when it opens doors for those who follow.
Beyond the house, Khadija serves as a Smile Train Africa Ambassador and, as the current Miss Cosmo Somalia, champions the work of Elevate International and UNICEF Canada to expand education, leadership, and opportunity for girls across Africa. House of Hooyo is an extension of that purpose, preserving heritage, celebrating African craftsmanship, and creating with the belief that true success is measured by the impact we leave behind.
Current Initiative
As the current Miss Cosmo Somalia, Khadija is championing this Elevate International and UNICEF Canada initiative to help expand education, leadership, and opportunity for girls across Africa.
Co-Founder & Head Designer
Long before House of Hooyo, Rabi was quietly building a reputation one gown at a time.
Raised in Nigeria after losing her father at just forty days old, she was brought up by the aunt who taught her that discipline is another language of love. That foundation shaped the patience, precision, and resilience that define her work today.
Beginning with a single sewing machine, a small studio, and an unwavering belief in her craft, she spent years perfecting couture by hand. Every bead, every seam, and every silhouette became a reflection of countless hours devoted to mastering the art of making garments that women would treasure for life’s most meaningful moments.
As Co-Founder and Head Designer of House of Hooyo, Rabi transforms vision into craftsmanship. Together with Khadija, she is building a new chapter in African luxury where heritage is preserved through craftsmanship, every garment is made with intention, and every woman is seen before she is styled.
Why Hooyo
In the Somali language, Hooyo means mother. House of Hooyo carries her name because she taught me to dream bigger than my circumstances. Every collection is our way of honouring that belief through craftsmanship, culture, and creating garments designed for women who deserve to feel seen.
Made in Africa
Where the Story Began
Every piece is made on the continent that inspired it, today in Nigeria, every stitch is finished with patience, precision, and care. The making stays in Africa because the people, the craft, and the opportunity should stay there too. In time, that work will reach home to Somalia.
Our Purpose
House of Hooyo exists to preserve African craftsmanship, celebrate culture through design, and invest in the women who will shape what comes next. Every collection supports a larger vision of opportunity, education, and creative leadership beyond the garment itself.
